ENVISIMED™ brings zero latency Cross Reality (X-Reality/XR) technology to procedure support and remote collaboration

Harrison Bay Life Sciences (HBLS) a medical device commercialization services provider, headquartered in Chattanooga, Tennessee, recently announced the launch of its new remote procedure support technology platform, ENVISIMEDTM.

Envisimed is a one-of-a-kind zero latency remote procedural support platform that enables users to interact and collaborate anywhere in the world without the delays that are often experienced with traditional browser-based collaboration tools.

Envisimed utilizes a 360° camera in the procedure room that’s connected to its patented cloud-based imaging platform. The HIPAA compliant platform, featuring military grade encryption, enables remote collaborators to interact, in real-time, over the internet with a laptop, or a VR system for a more immersive interface. The remote user has control of the 360° view of the room and maneuverability for better visualization without disrupting the hospital staff during the procedure.

The ability for the remote user to point and specifically identify something in the room and communicate with minimal transmission delays experienced with traditional collaboration tools allows for a more natural interaction that enables the remote user to provide the quality of support that high acuity medical device procedures require. Connectivity is possible from anywhere in the world, complying with any safety measures in place, such as restricted hospital access, during the pandemic.

An early adopter of the Envisimed platform, Dr. Marat Yanavitski, MD, an interventional cardiologist at M Health Fairview, said “Telemedicine, and the ability to work with patients, and other medical colleagues remotely is where we’re heading in the medical field. In procedural fields, telemedicine has been almost a buzz word, a holy grail, and really there hasn’t been a solution. In a way, COVID-19, for all of the damage and devastation to the healthcare field and outside of it, was a catalyst to allow people to understand that for many of the things we do existing technology has historically been out of sync with the clinical need.

Dr. Mudassar Ahmed, MD, Dr. Yanavitski’s partner and director of the structural heart program, also said, “When you’re looking at a tool like Envisimed for proctorship, it will expand and drive innovation because it will allow you to proctor more frequently, without taking time away from your normal practice. It eliminates the scheduling, and possible health issues related to travel, freeing up much more time.”

Envisimed has been purpose-built to enable medical professionals to collaborate remotely with their peers and industry partners. Its potential uses include: medical device procedure support, clinical trial collaboration and support, procedural collaboration and support, training programs, and peri-operative consulting.

“Envisimed can help any company save on costs,” said HBLS co-founder Steve Redenbaugh. “The reduced need for travel and related expenses will immediately save you money, while enabling you to support more procedures. And because Envisimed is a SaaS (software as a service) product, there is minimal hardware investment, and subscription costs scale to your needs.”
